Following a meeting of the parties involved in the Reservoir Simulation Mobil project on December 8th-9th 1994 at the POSC Europe offices, a number of issues arose with regard to the Epicentre data model. The meeting was concerned with the well production aspects of reservoir simulation. This issue was allocated to ERC Tigress for submission to POSC. There is a need to be able to aggregate wells into well groups for simulation purposes. Likewise, it should be possible to form hierarchies of well groups. - required as a basis for controls on simulation runs- required for simulation reporting purposes - well production-related properties need to be provided as attributes for the new well group entity The existing WELL_PATTERN entity did not seem suitable for simulation well grouping purposes.

A new general concept of product_flow_network_group has been added to describe a group of product_flow_network_units. To describe the participants in this group, product_flow_network_group_allocation has also been added.

The new product_flow_network_group_allocation is the supertype of the existing entity well_pattern_participation. The same applies to product_flow_network_group and well_pattern. Relationships and attributes for these existing entities were modified to accomodate their new subtypes. Specifically, attributes of well_pattern_participation are now specializations of newly inherited attributes and their names changed as a result (i.e., from well_completion to product_flow_network_unit and from well_pattern to product_flow_network_group).
