The stratigraphic_feature subtypes duplicated behavior defined for material class without the benefits of a generalized design. Material concepts were commingled with classification methodology. Therefore, these subtypes were deleted with the intention that the material clas s structures will provide the classification function. The subtypes of rock_feature are deleted and the descriptive classification is now handled by material class. The subtype relationships are moved to rock feature.

Rock_feature_part was added as a subtype of rock_material. It is the supertype of all entities that describe a limited physical portion of a rock_feature, like an outcrop, the rock in a wellbore or a rock sample. Local_rock_feature was added as a subtype of rock_feature_part to allow the description of a rock_feature in a smaller context or area, such as the characteristics of a formation in a given reservoir. A rock_feature_part may be a part of another rock_material. In this way a core sample can be extracted from an outcrop, another core, or any other rock material. Add a relatinship to allow a rock_feature_part to be located by earth_model_objects.
