bridge plug A point at which a bridge plug is inserted into a well. The bridge plug point is the top of the bridge plug. I.e., points nearer the surface than the bridge plug point are unaffected by the bridge plug. POSC 2.1 current
casing A point related to a tubular string which is typicallyy cemented in place within a wellbore to isolate exposed formations. POSC 2.1 current
completion A point in a segment of a planned or actual completion interval in a wellbore. POSC 2.1 current
completion string A point in an interval of a planned or actual wellbore into which a completion string is installed. POSC 2.1 current
cored A point in a planned or actual continuous hole section from which a central column of rock has been retrieved. POSC 2.1 current
sidewall core A point in a planned or actual borehole from which a sidewall core is taken. POSC 2.1 current
directional survey A point in an interval of a wellbore that has been surveyed to provide orientation or positioning information. POSC 2.1 current
bottomhole A point corresponding to the bottom of the wellbore. It is not known which particular bottomhole type this is. POSC 2.1 current
drillers bottomhole A point corresponding to the maximum depth reached by drilling. The final wellbore bottomhole depth may be less since the well is usually plugged back. Compare with wellbore td and drillers bottomhole. POSC 2.1 current
loggers bottomhole A point corresponding to the maximum depth reached by wireline logging. Compare with wellbore td and drillers bottomhole. POSC 2.1 current
wellbore bottomhole A point in a wellbore at the bottom of the wellbore. This point is not necessarily persistent, and may vary from day to day with drilling and other wellbore operations. POSC 2.1 current
wellbore td The point which represents the total depth (td) of a wellbore after drilling has been completed. The point is persistent, but may change with further drilling. If the well has been plugged back, it is the point to which the well is plugged back. Compare with drillers bottomhole and loggers bottomhole. POSC 2.1 current
geologic pick A point in an interval that represents the spatial intersection of a wellbore with a geologic object POSC 2.1 current
hole enlarged A point in a planned or actual hold section created by enlarging an existing hole. POSC 2.1 current
hole generation A point in an interval of a wellbore created by a single drillstring run. POSC 2.1 current
hydrocarbon show A point within a portion of a wellbore exhibiting the characteristics of a hydrocarbon show. POSC 2.1 current
logging A point in the portion of a wellbore path over which a well logging pass is conducted. POSC 2.1 current
open hole A point in an interval in a well that is not cased. POSC 2.1 current
perforation A point in an interval in a well that is perforated to allow reservoir fluid flow or injection. POSC 2.1 current

planned trajectory A point within a portion of a planned wellpath for which the trajectory has a common description. POSC 2.1 current
spud point A point in a wellbore at which drilling operations originally begin. This may not be the surface point of the wellbore, such as when significant intervals of mud are encountered in an offshore well. POSC 2.1 current
tie back string A point in an interval of a wellbore that contains a string which connects the top of another tubular string to the surface. POSC 2.1 current
wellbore subsurface A point in a wellbore between the surface and the bottomhole POSC 2.1 current
wellbore surface A point in a wellbore at the surface of the earth. POSC 2.1 current
casing shoe The bottom of a casing string. POSC 2.1 current
kelly bushing The point in a wellbore where the wellbore, when originally drilled, intersected the kelly bushing. POSC 2.1 current
ground level The earths surface where the drillstring enters the ground. This reference point is not appropriate for an offshore well. POSC 2.1 current
derrick floor The point where the wellbore intersects the platform, usually 10 feet or more above the ground, or the derrick on which drilling operations are carried on. POSC 2.1 current
rotary table The point where the wellbore meets the rotary table. POSC 2.1 current
unknown The type of wellbore point is unknown. POSC 2.1 current
sea level The point at which the wellbore intersects the mean sea level geoid. This point is generally used when sea level is used to reference wellbore measured depth measurements. POSC 2.1 current
wireline pressure test The point in a wellbore at which a wireline pressure test was or is planned to be conducted. POSC 2.1 current
top wireline logging pass The point in a wellbore nearest to the hole opening which defines the wellbore interval in which a wireline logging pass occurred. POSC 2.1 current
bottom wireline logging pass The point in a wellbore furthest from the hole opening which defines the wellbore interval in which a wireline logging pass occurred. POSC 2.1 current
