How do I arrange for my product/data/service to be POSC-compliant?

Today, POSC-compliance is a market-driven process.

POSC provides a Compliance Statement Template (CST), which is an extensive questionnaire based on its V2.0 specifications. The process is expected to proceed as follows:

• Suppliers can complete the sections of the CST which relate to their product.

• When asked about POSC compliance, suppliers may provide their completed form to any prospective client. This affords the supplier the convenience of a single "response" to such inquiries.

• Clients may review the completed CSTs to assess how the products match their own needs with regard to compliance.

Thus, the process to establish compliance is between the supplier and the consumer; POSC simply provides this vehicle for communicating about compliance.

The current version of the CST is the POSC Compliance Statement Template V2.0 Snapshot (presently available to members only). The incompatibilities between the CST Snapshot V2.0 and the V2.0 specifications released to members in March 1995 are very minor.

At this time, there is no formal POSC service to audit any product/data/service and comment officially as to its degree of compliance.
