This seminar, hosted by ONGC, was an
introduction to POSC, its standards, its collaborative work processes and the
value these offer the industry. Participants
at the
seminar saw how their companies can participate in and benefit from POSC's work.
Participants discussed how Exploration and Production (E&P) Industry information and
standards used in India and neighboring regions might be improved for the benefit
of all. These subjects are particularly
relevant as India's E&P industry opens up to new domestic and
multi-national players. The
seminar provided an overview of the activities of POSC's Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in which
members collaborate to identify the requirements for improved information related work practices
that lead to defined best practices and industry standards. The achievement of
such practices and standards increase the value of E&P information, from
acquired data through to
geoscience and engineering models. The SIGs are user communities for
current and evolving standards for all the players in the industry, including operators, service companies,
and
regulators.
The
meeting was open to all - Oil, Oil Service and Software companies, and Government,
Regulatory, and Research organizations.
Participation is free of charge. Multiple representatives were encouraged from each organization, though we reserve the right to limit
this number if demand necessitates.
