The focus of
these meetings was on 'right time' seamless flow of well site data between
operators and service companies to speed and enhance decision-making.
June 4 - There were working meetings of the WITSML SIG teams. These meetings addressed WITSML V1.2 use and deployment experience and future use cases and requirements. These meetings were for current and prospective WITSML SIG participants. Over 40 people attended. All organizations with an interest in the WITSML standard were welcome to attend and are invited to join the WITSML SIG to support the standard and to determine its future direction. June 5 - There were a series of presentations about WITSML from oil company operators, software suppliers, and service companies addressing experience with current WITSML deployments and plans for future WITSML use. These meetings were intended for all organizations with an interest in the WITSML standard. Over sixty people attended. A Social/Reception was arranged at the Aberdeen Maritime Museum on the evening of June 4, from 17:30 - 20:30 and included nibbles and a welcome drink followed by a cash bar. BP & Landmark Graphics graciously sponsored this event. Both meetings were open to WITSML project participants and the broader community interested in drilling data acquisition and transfer. The WITSML initiative has developed the new XML standard as an evolution of the Wellsite Information Transfer Specification used for data exchange between computer systems at the rig site; take-up of the specification has been strong. More information on the WITSML initiative/specifications can be found on the WITSML Web site or by contacting Alan Doniger at POSC.
