 POSC's WITSML Special Interest Groups held working meetings for a day and a half prior to the WITSML Public Seminar on Nov. 4.  These  meetings were open to active WITSML SIG members and invited guests only.

Parallel meeting were held by the WITSML Technical Teams and Use Case Requirements Team. 

  • The agenda for the Technical Teams was to complete their work in preparation for the release of WITSML Version 1.2.1 by year-end and to continue examining issues targeted for Version 1.3 to be released sometime in 2005. 
  • The agenda for the Use Case Requirements Team included: 

    (a) reviewing and endorsing the Mud Log Data Sub-team's work on specification upgrades intended for release with Version 1.2.1 and monitoring progress on related pilot tests, 

    (b) exploring requirements and opportunities related to the use of WITSML to transfer daily drilling reports, and

    (c) well mechanical (completions) nomenclature,  

    (d) identifying and working on other subjects related to the use of WITSML to support drilling and completion activities. 

More information on the WITSML initiative/specifications can be found on the WITSML Web site or by contacting Alan Doniger at POSC.  All organizations with an interest in the WITSML standard are invited to join the WITSML SIG to support the standard and to determine its future direction.
