POSC announces the start of a new format for member technical workshops, designated the Supplier Workshop Series. The first of this series will be a workshop conducted by Schlumberger at the November 1997 POSC meeting in Dallas, Texas.
The concept is for supplier members of POSC to lead half-day workshops following each POSC Member General Meeting. These workshops are intended to give POSC members an opportunity to learn what the supplier is doing regarding POSC in greater detail than is possible in our 10 minute Podium sessions or even in our longer 30 minute sessions.
We hope to attract an audience of technically competent members who are interested in learning and prepared to engage in active discussion. The workshop could cover such topics as:
The supplier will choose an area of relevance and interest and present it in detail, rather than surveying multiple topics.
The Supplier Workshop Series is intended to increase awareness and knowledge of how the POSC specifications and standards are actually being applied in the industry. Each workshop will conclude with a panel discussion. It will focus on issues related to the material presented, possibly including consideration for improvements needed in the POSC specifications, opportunities for collaborative projects related to the specifications and/or to the supplier's work, etc.
The established format of presentations during the general meetings remains in place. Speaking opportunities range from ten-minute Podium sessions to longer, substantive sessions. POSC members are encouraged to be pro-active either by participating as session speakers or by nominating relevant experts to address our member meetings. Proposals for presentations should convey information of value to the general membership, e.g. proposals for collaborative work efforts, progress reports on POSC-related projects, technical descriptions of commercially available POSC-related products and/or services.
Please contact one of the following persons if you would like to propose a presentation in the Supplier Workshop Series or general session for an upcoming member meeting:
