POSC Action Items
Status as of January 22, 1996
Note: This list contains all Action Items from the April POSC meetings
and older Action Items that were still pending as of November 18, 1996.
- from the May/June 1996 Business Forum Meetings:
- ACTION ITEM K.1. A Request for Comment will be issued on the
topic of member meetings. Owner: Marise Mikulis. Status: COMPLETED.
In lieu of a Request for Comments, a committee composed of the four
member meeting facilitators, an at-large director, and POSC staff has was
formed on October 1 to assess member expectations and to make recommendations
about the future purpose and structure of member meetings. This was the
subject of sessions and discussions in the November and December meetings.
The 1997 meetings will reflect the feedback from these sessions.
- from the May/June 1996 Migration SIG Meetings: (none)
- from the September 1996 Business Forum Meetings:
- Nottingham ACTION ITEM F1:POSC and POSC/CAESAR should write
an issue paper addressing plans / guidelines for "using" (extending,
deploying, seeking de jure standardization, etc.) Epicentre and the POSC/CAESAR
product model in the near and middle term, i.e. pending future convergence.
Owner: David Archer and Johan Skutle. Status: PENDING.
- from the September 1996 Migration SIG Meetings:
- Nottingham ACTION ITEM F1: POSC will help disseminate relational
projection tuning information and will provide such information in future
releases. Owner: Dan Schenck. Status: PENDING.
- Nottingham ACTION ITEM F2: POSC will clarify membership relationship
between PSTI members and POSC. Owner: Gary Hodge. Status: COMPLETED.
As for all POSC member organizations that are themselves membership
organizations, people who belong to PSTI member organizations may act as
PSTI members in POSC member events. Otherwise, people who belong to PSTI
member organizations are not entitled to POSC member privileges.
- from the November/December1996 Business Forum Meetings:
- Behoust ACTION ITEM D.1: Bob Pindell and the Board
will keep the membership informed about the progress of the Funding Committee.Owner:
Bob Pindell. Status: PENDING.
- Houston ACTION ITEM E.1: Struby Overton will ask Laramie
Winczewski to provide POSC with a contact on the AAPG computer subcommittee.Owner:
Struby Overton. Status: PENDING.
- Houston ACTION ITEM F.1: POSC member Business
and Technical Contacts should work with operating company people to identify
to POSC opportunities in their operating companies for the use of
the specifications to help realize bottom-line benefits. Special note should
be taken of opportunities for joint ventures with other POSC members. Owner:
POSC Business and Technical Contacts. Status: PENDING.
- Behoust ACTION ITEM F.2: Gary Hodge will request that
Elf write an InfoPOSC article based on Philippe Chalon's presentation
to the December Business Forum meeting describing the projects that have
been done and the benefits that have been produced. Owner: Gary Hodge.
Status: PENDING.
- Behoust ACTION ITEM F.3: Gary Hodge will request that IBM
write an InfoPOSC article describing their active projects, including
the Project Data Store work, Puma, etc. Owner: Gary Hodge. Status:
PENDING.
- Behoust ACTION ITEM L1: POSC management will send
a letter to the Board of Directors communicating the need expressed by
attendees of the December Business Forum meeting for a strong POSC Marketing
and Communications function.Owner: Bill Bartz. Status: PENDING.
- Behoust ACTION ITEM L2: The POSC Staff (with assistance from
interested members) should write a document explaining how a single organization
/ project can use both POSC's specifications (i.e. Epicentre, DAE, etc.)
and POSC/Caesar's specifications. Owner: David Archer. Status:
PENDING.
