POSC and Shell hosted this second workshop focused on cataloguing practices for E&P documents and digital stored data. An earlier workshop on this subject was held on March 22 in Aberdeen. About fifty people participated in the current workshop, representing oil companies, service/software companies, regulators, and standards organizations. The purpose of the workshop was to understand the results of portions of Shell Expro's Discovery Programme and to determine how the industry might take this work forward including the evolution of supporting industry standards.
The Discovery Programme produced a uniform framework for access to information. Shell is interested in sharing these results with industry and encouraged the attendees to consider implementation pilot projects within companies, among companies, among trading groups, etc. to test and expand on the results and to validate what may become POSC industry standards and associated best practices.
