How To Get the CGM Specifications

For on-line ordering of the CGM specifications, visit the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Web site. Go to the ANSI-ISO-IEC Online Catalog page (http://web.ansi.org/public/catalog/cat_top.html) and use the Search utility to search for "Computer Graphics Metafile" to get a list of the CGM specifications.

The document is ISO/IEC 8632:1992 "Computer Graphics Metafile - Metafile for the Storage and Transfer of Picture Description Information."

There are four parts of the specification:

• Part 1 - Functional Specification (ISO/IEC 8632-1:1992 or ANSI/ISO/IEC 8632-1-1992)
  
• Part 2 - Character Encoding (ISO/IEC 8632-2:1992 or ANSI/ISO/IEC 8632-2-1992)
  
• Part 3 - Binary Encoding (ISO/IEC 8632-3:1992 or ANSI/ISO/IEC 8632-3-1992)
  
• Part 4 - Clear Text Encoding (ISO/IEC 8632-4:1992 or ANSI/ISO/IEC 8632-4-1992)
