Documented Epicentre Footprints


The purpose of this index is to make documentation on the usage of Epicentre more readily available.

A footprint is the group of entities, attributes and standard values that are used together to describe the data for a particular business use. They are usually documented using the Express-I notation.

Footprints for Specific Business Areas

The following footprints are intended to become standards for particular business uses. They are being generated in collaboration with POSC.

POSC Epicentre V2.2 Usage Guide (included in the POSC V2.2 release)

This is a narrative discussion of using Epicentre for the storage and access of data for Seismic, Seismic Interpretation, and Coordinate Systems. These discussions are intended for readers who are basically familiar with the subject areas. The examples are displayed in Express-I and SQL.

EXPRESS-I Examples of Instances (included in the POSC V2.2 release)

These are examples showing how some commonly understood items used in the E&P business are represented in Epicentre. The examples cover some aspects of Well Information, Well Operations, and Geologic Information. Examples are displayed in Express-I.

GEMSIG (Geoshare Users Group)

Covers Well, Well Log and Well Log Trace. The footprints are described as part of the definition of the Common Business Objects. See Results to Date at the bottom of the GEMSIG home page:

Footprints with Broader Scope

The following are footprints of particular systems or data sets. They may cover a wider scope of data than those listed above. There is no guarantee that the different footprints are consistent. At this time, POSC has not endorsed any of them.

Haddock Dataset

Haddock is an exploration dataset. The footprint includes well geometry, well log traces, log picks, post-stack 2D and 3D seismic, and seismic picks.
