Based on the work done by the EPSG after the release of v2.0, many new coordinate systems have
been introduced. These have been incorporated into the version 2.1 release.
Coordinate Transformation types were organized. This is reflected
in the set of values for ref_coordinate_transformation,
and the set of values for ref_map_projection.
[See Changes in Coordinate Transformation related
entities] In addition, coordinate transformation names were changed, and new
coordinate transformations were introduced.
[SeeCoordinate Transformation Names]

The geographic_coordinate_system, 'Potsdam', has been deprecated.
The geographic_coordinate_system, 'Ain el Abd 1970', has been changed to 'Ain el Abd'.
Added was the geographic_coordinate_system, 'Batavia (Jakarta)'.
The ellipsoid, 'GEM10C', was changed to 'GEM 10C'.
The geodetic_datum, 'GDA94', was added, as was the geodetic_datum_alias, 'Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994'.

There were many additions to the list of projected_coordinate_systems. The addtions are too numerous to list individually (623 additions). Following is a description of the ones added:

The list of map projections was changed by the EPSG to the following:
Deprecated were previous values:
Deprecated were the ref_coordinate_transformation values:
These were replaced by the single value 'map projection'.
Map projection parameters were changed slightly. There were two name changes:
Many of the parameters were changed to have ref_parameter_attribute.name = 'any quantity' rather than 'real'.

The coordinate_transformation entity was changed considerably. First, it was changed to classify a coordinate_transformation based on the revised coordinate_transformation_method types.
Second, many of the names of the coordinate transformations were changed. This reflects the study and organization applied by the EPSG.
Finally, these changes were reflected in the related entities: coordinate_transformation_value and applied_coordinate_transformation.
In general, it is not expected that any of the coordinate_transformations have been explicitly used by existing 2.0 databases. If that is the case, it is recommended that the following entities be deleted and reloaded with the new set of information:
Then reload the new set of tables for these entities.
The following summarizes some of the changes:
