simple A well in which component wellbores all must start at a single point on the surface of the earth. It may have multiple geologic targets, but they must all be accessed along the same wellbore. A simple well must begin with an initial wellbore and may not have a re-spud wellbore. A simple well may have a remedial sidetrack wellbore, but not a sidetrack wellbore. current
simplex A well in which component wellbores all must start at a single point on the surface of the earth, but may be created for the acquisition of many primary geological targets. A simplex well must begin with an initial wellbore and may not have a re-spud wellbore. A simplex well may contain both remedial sidetrack wellbores and sidetrack wellbores. current
compound A well in which component wellbores all must start at a single intended point on the surface of the earth. It may have multiple geologic targets, but they must all be accessed along the same wellbore. A compound well may have many re-spud wellbores, if neccessary, within a general vicinity, as defined by local criteria. A compound well may have a remedial sidetrack wellbore, but not a sidetrack wellbore to acquire a new geological target. current
complex A well in which component wellbores all must start at a single intended point on the surface of the earth, and be created for the acquisition of many primary geological targets. A complex well may have many re-spud wellbores, if neccessary, within a general vicinity, as defined by local criteria. A complex well may contain both remedial sidetrack wellbores and sidetrack wellbores. current
network A well in which component wellbores may start at one or more points on the surface of the earth, are interconnected below the surface of the earth, and be created for the acquisition of many primary geological targets. A network well may have many surface access points to shared geologic targets. current
