POSC energy eStandards

The standards that result from POSC collaborative efforts are presented in this part of the Web site. These specifications are intended to be internalized within oil company and service company procedures, within software product lines, etc. to achieve demonstrably beneficial Energy eStandards.

POSC Energy eStandards Reader's Guide
Recent, previous, and future planned Energy eStandards, as well as relevant external standards, are presented in the following tables. Within each table, the standards are grouped by the major POSC standards areas: Internet Data Exchange Standards, Practical E&P Standards, Data Management Standards, and Application Interoperability Standards. Click on the title for information about a standard. Information addresses readers who want to (a) use a standard, (b) study the associated detailed specifications, or (c) participate in the future evolution of a standard.

Alternatively, choose a POSC Energy eStandard from an alphabetical list.

It is important to understand that POSC's Energy eStandards build on and are allied with standards and specifications developed and managed by other organizations and initiatives. Although standards development is a complex and ever-changing process, some of the more notable examples of relevant external standards developments are listed at the end of this section as references and as endorsements for their use. Some external endorsements are taken on board by POSC as inclusions or references in POSC specifications, e.g. ISO country names. Some are used as the foundation of POSC specifications, e.g. W3C XML Schema. Some are intended for use by organizations that implement POSC specifications, e.g. SOAP for Internet message transport.
