Version 2.2.1 Update Notice

POSC has released Version 2.2.1 as an update to Epicentre Version 2.2. This is an interim release with changes to Epicentre reference data only. It contains no changes to the data model or to the DAE specification.

This release allows a Version 2.2 database to be updated in place. Version 2.2.1 consists of a set of EntityLoader files that can be run against an existing V2.2 Epicentre database. The EntityLoader file will update the data in an existing database with the new values. In addition, there are a set of updated HTML documentation pages that replace files found on the V2.2 CD.

The reference data changes are primarily in the coordinate systems data. The EPSG released an updated version of their coordinate system information (See the EPSG page) in April 1998. The 2.2.1 update incorporates the EPSG changes into Epicentre. In addition, there are some new units of measure to support production reporting, and some typographical error corrections. A list of the changes accompany the release.

Downloading and Installing the Release

To utilize this release, there are two sets of .tar.gz files that should be downloaded via FTP:

• Version 2.2.1 Update - 51KB
  The file upgrade221.tar.gz consists of the EntityLoader files that can be run to upgrade the existing 2.2 database. On a UNIX system the files can be expanded by running

  gzip -dc upgrade221.tar.gz | tar xvf -
  

  Due to a bug in Microsoft Operating Systems, attempts to download these files results in an attempt by the system to rename the files. You must change them back to the proper names. It is important that the .tar and .gz extensions are present.

  Once the files are expanded, the file index.html can be opened in a browser to get detailed instructions to perform the upgrade.

• Version 2.2.1 HTML Documentation - 289KB
  The Epicentre Version 2.2 CD contains .html files that document the reference data values. New V2.2.1 .html reference value files are included in the tar-zip file htmlfile221.tar.gz. On a UNIX system the files can be expanded by running

  gzip -dc htmlfile221.tar.gz | tar xvf -
  

  If you have copied the HTML documentation from the POSC Version 2.2 CD to a local disk, you may replace the HTML files in the directory structure /DataModel/LogicalDictionary/StandardValues with the V2.2.1 HTML files.
