[The RESCUE Project]

REServoir Characterization Using Epicentre

Data Exchange Model and Class Libraries Available

The RESCUE group at a recent business meeting voted to make a public release of Version 1 of the RESCUE data exchange model and the Class Libraries which implement it on a flat file exchange mechanism. The complete set of the source and documentation files for the first public release of the RESCUE Class Libraries is available at the POSC Web site.

See the RESCUE Class Libraries page for information on downloading the files.

The model and libraries have been tested in a laboratory environment by Dynamic Graphics, Inc., Geomath, Landmark, Schlumberger and Smedvig Technologies AS using a variety of synthetic and real world geologic models. Geologic models have been successfully passed to reservoir applications and upscaled.

Industry Adoption and Future Plans

It is expected that a number of vendors will embed the RESCUE exchange format in commercial releases during 1998. Also, other alliances have expressed interest in adopting the RESCUE standards, and ongoing discussions are expected to lead to close cooperation in this area.

Work continues within the RESCUE alliance to implement the RESCUE model and transport mechanism upon an Epicenter data store, with the first interactive laboratory testing scheduled for May of 1998.
